Witness Greatness

Ronaldihno flip flap

This is just one move...the signature move...of the best footballer in the world: Ronaldihno. And NO, you have NOT seen better on campus...

Why would I mention this on a Dallas sports intensive site? Because of its pure greatness. If you ever regretted not seeing Michael Jordan in his prime, not seeing the Stones in their prime, Pamela Anderson in her prime...NOW is your chance. Even if you are not particularly a soccer fan...if you just like to appreciate skill, this is your human highlight film. Many soccer skills are not appreciated by the layman because the great ones make it look so easy. But when Jordan skies from the free throw line, you KNOW it's great. When Ronaldihno is on the ball, the electricity is palpable.

He will be with his club team Barcelona in Houston on 8/9/06 on the southern leg of their 3-stop North American Tour. You will also be able to catch it on Fox Soccer Channel at 9:30 Central Time.

I'm weighing in on the soccer debate. I tried watching the World Cup. It bored me mostly. Then, I discovered it was because I was watching the good ol' USA. I happened onto Argentina v. Mexico at a niece's birthday party. That was exciting. A lot of up-and-down action as opposed to the ball getting booted lazily back and forth. Watched the end of the semifinal with Germany and, I belive, Italy. Another fairly entertaining game. I'm not on the bandwagon because, let's face it, the MLS employs the American players who put me to sleep. But soccer earned some points with me this year and, as you well know, there's not a lot of scoring in soccer. Maybe that's why women excel at soccer. They're not obsessed with scoring. (wink, wink...nudge, nudge)

I'd rather go to the dentist than watch a soccer match.

At least at the dentist, progress is being made.
